Download Speed & Network Guide

Why Is My VJStream Download Slow?

Sometimes a download may feel slow even when VJStream is working normally.

The most important thing to check is your current download speed. VJStream now shows your download speed directly on the Downloads page so you can see how fast your internet connection is actually transferring the movie.

What does the speed mean?

Your download speed is shown in MB/s (megabytes per second).

For example: 2.4 MB/s means your device is currently downloading about 2.4 megabytes every second.

The higher the number, the faster your download. Your speed can change from one moment to another depending on your mobile network, Wi-Fi, signal strength, network congestion, and other devices using the same connection.

How fast should a movie download?

Most movies on VJStream are around 2 GB. Here is an example of how long a 2 GB movie could take at different speeds:

Download SpeedApprox. time for 2 GB
0.2 MB/s~2 hours 50 minutes
0.5 MB/s~1 hour 8 minutes
1 MB/s~34 minutes
2 MB/s~17 minutes
2.4 MB/s~14 minutes
5 MB/s~7 minutes
10 MB/s~3–4 minutes

These are approximate times. Your actual download time can vary.

Check your speed before blaming the download

If you feel that a download is unusually slow:

  1. 1Open the Downloads page
  2. 2Start or check your movie download
  3. 3Look at the speed indicator
  4. 4Watch the speed for a little while

If you're consistently seeing speeds around 0.2–1 MB/s, your internet connection is likely the main reason the download is taking a long time.

For example, a 2 GB movie downloading at 0.5 MB/s will naturally take much longer than the same movie downloading at 2.4 MB/s.

💡 A simple way to think about it

Low speed → slow download|High speed → faster download

VJStream cannot download faster than the connection available to your device.

Why can my speed be low?

Your download speed may be affected by:

  • 📡 Weak mobile network signal
  • 👥 Congestion on your mobile network
  • 📶 Slow or unstable Wi-Fi
  • 🏠 Many people using the same Wi-Fi connection
  • 📱 Other apps downloading/streaming in background
  • 🚗 Moving between areas with different coverage

This is why the same movie can download quickly at one time and slowly at another.

⚠️ MB/s is not the same as Mbps

Your network provider may advertise your internet speed in Mbps (megabits per second), while VJStream shows your actual download speed in MB/s (megabytes per second). They are different units.

1 MB/s = 8 Mbps

So if your network connection is advertised as 20 Mbps, the theoretical maximum is about 2.5 MB/s before other network factors are taken into account.

🚀 Want a faster download?

If your VJStream speed is consistently low, try:

Move to an area with better network signal.
Switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi.
Pause other downloads or streaming on your device.
Try downloading again when your network is less congested.
If using Wi-Fi, check whether other people are heavily using the connection.

The speed indicator is there to help you

Instead of guessing why a download is taking long, check the number first. If your VJStream download is consistently showing a low speed, your internet connection is likely limiting the download.
